Based on the significant progress made in the project, the project was granted additional funding to continue to phase 2 in 2021 and phase 3 in 2024-2025. During phase 3, they will study allele loss under BRCA wildtype and heterozygous conditions. These studies will provide a comparative mechanistic understanding of LOH at BRCA under normal and carrier conditions. This mechanistic understanding will facilitate development of strategies to prevent LOH and thereby prevent cancer development in high-risk individuals. less
