Private foundations don’t post open calls, so nobody can search them. We read their IRS filings instead — 3.7 million grants from 98,165 foundations, searchable by what the money was actually for.
Source: IRS Form 990-PF, Part XV, filing years 2019–2023. These are grants a foundation has already paid — a record of what they fund, not an open call. Foundations rarely accept unsolicited applications; the route in is usually a program officer.
