SCA Community Crews are designed to be first-time experiences in conservation for its participants, who live in urban centers within daily commuting distance of their SCA work site. Youth are recruited from local high schools and through community partner organizations. The program is designed for youth with limited exposure to the outdoors. Because youth in urban centers often have limited opportunities for employment, SCA provides participants a stipend or wage for their work and focuses on the development of job readiness skills. less

Programming is offered in-person at Fremont and Skyline High Schools 42 weeks during the school year, year-round at The Unity Council, and during a 2-week summer leadership development institute. LMA is unique in that it works at the intersection of culture, school, community, health and leadership.
